Year>>>Noted

We are half way through January and our Year Noted Campaign. I am really enjoying working with these colours and papers and wanted to share with you a page that uses this great value kit and one of my favourite Host reward Stamps.

 I have used both the Host Reward Stamp set Happy Hexagons and Honeycomb C1537 to stamp up some hexagons. I have used the Artbooking Cricut Cartridge to cut the Hexagon overlays. These are used two ways -  as stencils for background work as well as decorative elements supporting the photo. 

I had already cut up my Year Noted papers so I chose three and laid them side by side on the mat. I was not fussed about where edges of hexagons would be. The main thing is I got some pretty hexagons to mix and match with! 

I used Sorbet, Crystal Blue and Desert sand to gently sponge hexagons into the background. Once the background was done and I had stamped out some hexagons I had plenty to choose from - some printed, some plain and some stamped - all filling spaces around the photo. The gold foil stickers were used to give a lift and the sentiment was Heat Embossed with gold embossing powders.

Welcome

Hello and welcome to The Creative Heart on Blogger!  I have been blogging over at Wordpress for some time but since Blogger integrates with Google and Google+ so well I figured I would see how this platform works for me. I have started but never continued a few blogs here and really hope that will not  be the case this time. If you have been following me at Wordpress you will be advised when I and if I flip over to the'other side!

So, let me kick this brand new blog off with a little about me. I am a teacher heart and soul. I am also undeniably a Creative Heart and am very happy to shout that out to the world.

Way back in High School, When I was in Year 7 and struggling to do a 'nice' job of a lino cut print my Year 7 Art teacher told me I was not 'creative'. The impressionable 13 year old me believed him, In spite of being able to sew, play piano, and decorate cakes I believed him. I stayed well away from anything that used 'art' materials for the rest of my formal education because I am not creative according to my yr 7 Art teacher....

Once Uni was done I was restless. When not buried in school work (I became a teacher) I stitched cross stitch, but I soon got sick of that. I went out and invested in adult colouring books and pencils and found my soul incredibly soothed. Itfelt childish. I told no-one. I was embarrassed. But it felt sooooo gooood. I am not creative according to my yr 7 Art teacher so I did not have to design - just stay in the lines!

Following this period of time  I had a go at Hobby Tex painting - remember that? It was awesome fun and I am sure the only reason I never ended up becoming a demonstrator would have been lack of support from home. I learned to blend...but  remember....I still believed I am not creative (in accordance with that self defeating belief instilled in me by my yr 7 Art teacher....)

During the 1990's an ancient art form got new life with the coming of awesome acrylic painting mediums and the world becoming a smaller place. I discovered 'Folk Art', and 'Decorative Painting' and my mother told me 'You can do this' (because she could with a few lessons rather local adult community center). And so I could. Very well. So well in fact I became fully immersed in the state society for the art form, helped develop a teacher qualification, taught others how to do it, began to design and write for the Australian Folk Art and Decorative Painting magazine AND ran my own studio. It was during this time I also took up scrapbooking and this time I did find a business I could run while teaching others to preserve memories and be creative.

Yep....self defeating belief debumked - totally! I was CREATIVE!!! And I was in heaven!

I am Creative! And So are YOU. You create every day in so many ways and now at 50 something I am super excited to be teaching you that you are creative. Maybe you are carrying some self limiting, self defeating beliefs about that but if you are human, you were born with creativity and you still have it somewhere inside. I love having the job of helping you bring it out! Let's get that small child within and rebuild the confidence to create you deserve!

So while I do not teach painting at this moment in time( if I could I would) I do teach scrapbooking, card making and papecraft. I am an Independent Consultant with an awesome company Close To My Heart. Their vision is close to my heart.
